According to the developer, there's a karma system for the ducks, which provides a range of how much they'll target you. So I'm pretty sure they're bots. But you can invite friends to help out ^^
If you port this to Steam with online multiplayer, I'd definitely get this. I'd love to experience the thrill of stealing hard earned duckling lines from my friends.

Just a heads up- on mobile (Firefox on Android) I can press to create the little thumb stick graphic, but the duck does not actually move at all.
I know you can't test every use-case, especially for a browser game, but still wanted to let you know.
